This change adds the bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok options to the AndroidConfig object. This gives developers granular control over message delivery when an Android device is operating under restricted network conditions, such as Data Saver mode or an active satellite network connection.

Summary of Changes

Hello, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces new configuration options for Android messages, enabling developers to specify whether messages should be delivered when a device is operating under specific network restrictions, such as Data Saver mode or a satellite connection. This enhancement provides finer control over message delivery behavior, improving the reliability and user experience for applications in diverse network environments.

Highlights

  • New AndroidConfig Options: Added bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok options to the AndroidConfig object, allowing developers to control message delivery under bandwidth-constrained or restricted satellite network conditions.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Changelog
  • firebase_admin/_messaging_encoder.py
    • Added bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok fields to the AndroidConfig encoding logic.
  • firebase_admin/_messaging_utils.py
    • Updated the AndroidConfig class to include bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok as optional parameters in its constructor.
    • Added bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok as instance attributes to the AndroidConfig class.
  • tests/test_messaging.py
    • Added parameterized tests to validate that bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok fields only accept boolean values.
    • Updated the test_android_config method to include bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok in the AndroidConfig instantiation and expected encoded output.

Code Review

This pull request adds support for bandwidth_constrained_ok and restricted_satellite_ok to the AndroidConfig object. The changes are correctly implemented in the data model, encoder, and tests, following the existing patterns for similar boolean fields. My review includes one suggestion to refactor the new tests to reduce code duplication and improve maintainability.
